Shape the app.

Inscript Studio will launch at $TBD — one-time, everything included. Right now, we're looking for indie authors to test the app, break things, and tell us what's missing. Beta access is free. Beta testers get 50% off at launch.

The math is simple.

vs Dabble Inscript costs less than 7 months of Dabble's $228/yr subscription
vs Vellum Vellum charges $250 for formatting alone — and it's Mac-only
vs Atticus Atticus costs $147 for writing + formatting. No finances, no planning, no offline.
vs Scrivener + Vellum Together they cost $310, cover two features, and you still need spreadsheets

What beta testers get.

Full use of Inscript Studio during the beta period. Every feature, no restrictions, no time limit on the beta.

50% off at launch

When Inscript ships at $TBD, beta testers pay $TBD. One-time. Lifetime license. That's the deal for helping us get it right.

A say in what ships

Direct line to the founder. Your feedback goes into the product — not a suggestion box. You'll shape what Inscript becomes.

One app instead of five.

Every competitor covers a piece of the workflow. Inscript covers all of it.

Write Format Story Bible Finances Ads Analysis AI Offline Price
Inscript Studio $129.99
one-time
Scrivener $59.99

Vellum Mac only $249.99

Atticus online only ~ $147

Dabble $228/yr
$684 over 3 yrs
Ulysses $49.99/yr
$150 over 3 yrs

The stack problem: To match what Inscript does, you'd need Scrivener ($60) + Vellum ($250) + spreadsheets + a project manager + a marketing planner = $310+ in tools, plus the time switching between them. Inscript replaces the whole stack for $129.99.

What about future versions?

All updates within your major version are free. If a major new version is released, existing license holders get a significant loyalty discount. You're never forced to upgrade — your current version keeps working indefinitely.

Questions

Do I need internet access to use Inscript?

No. Inscript works completely offline. Internet is only needed for license activation (once), optional cloud backups to Google Drive or Dropbox, and cloud-based AI features. You can use AI entirely offline by running Ollama locally on your machine. Inscript does not phone home or monitor your usage in any way. When updates are available, you'll receive an email with a link to download the new version.

Is my writing stored in the cloud?

No. All your data lives on your machine in a local database, saved automatically as you work. Inscript doesn't have a server, doesn't require an account, and doesn't upload your work. If you want offsite backup, you can connect Google Drive or Dropbox through settings — but the primary copy always stays local. There is no usage tracking, no telemetry, and no monitoring of any kind. Your manuscripts are yours alone.

How does the AI work? Do I need to pay extra?

Inscript's AI features — editing assistance, blurb generation, manuscript briefings, and research — work with any OpenAI-compatible API. You bring your own API key from whichever provider you prefer (Anthropic, OpenAI, Mistral, and others) and pay them directly at their rates. Inscript doesn't add a markup or bundle AI into a subscription. For complete privacy, you can run AI locally through Ollama — no internet connection, no data leaving your machine, no cost per query. AI features are off by default and entirely optional.

Can I import my KDP and Amazon Ads data?

Yes. Export your KDP Orders and Payments reports as XLSX or CSV, and Inscript imports them automatically — every title, format, marketplace, KENP read, and royalty amount. For Amazon Ads, export your search term and campaign reports as CSV. Inscript calculates your ACOS, TACOS, and flags budget-draining keywords. No API setup required — just download, import, done.

Can I import my existing manuscripts?

Yes. Inscript imports .docx files and auto-detects your chapter structure — headings, chapter markers, and scene breaks are all preserved. If you're coming from Microsoft Word, just open your .docx. From Scrivener, compile to .docx and import. From Google Docs, download as .docx. Your manuscript transfers cleanly in minutes, not hours. No copy-paste, no reformatting.

What platforms does Inscript run on?

Inscript is a native desktop app available for Mac, Windows, and Linux. It's not a web app — it runs directly on your machine for maximum performance and offline reliability. Your license works on all three platforms.
